LA-based artist Emma Remelle continues to push pop-punk music toward the future with her single “Get Well Soon.” Remelle recently signed a new label with Wayward Son Music, and “Get Well Soon” is her first single with the new label. As an alternative rock with an electro-pop twist artist, Remelle blends dark production elements with vulnerable and emotional vocal performances.

Emma Remelle comments about “Get Well Soon”: “The song’s essence is a narrative of young love and what ultimately causes us to fall out of it. I realized, through heartbreak and relationships, there seemed to be a purpose to all the pain; you end up learning some hard lessons and finding a truer, stronger, and more authentic version of yourself that you didn’t know existed before.”

We can clearly see the narrative Remelle mentions in “Get Well Soon,” both through the lyrics and the dark images on the screen. The song begins with the lyrics “Once upon a time I was a believer/ I remember thinking I’ll never leave ya/ How stupid of me to think that I’d get to keep ya/ When I know that love is one hell of a teacher.” We are immediately reminded of a past relationship that we had these exact thoughts about and continue to reminisce on our heartbreak throughout the rest of the song. Remelle continues with a catchy chorus, ending with the lines “Set fire to a burning room/ Farewell, get well soon,” providing an image of what being destroyed and left feels like.

Visually, “Get Well Soon” alternates between Remelle in a dark room with red lighting and a brightly-lit, white room where she is covered in blood. As Remelle discusses the pain she feels while also physically showing us with her bloodstained clothes, we can remember a similar painful feeling when experiencing heartbreak. We can connect to Remelle’s feelings of being betrayed, broken, and left behind to bleed out alone.

Emma Remelle began her musical journey back in high school with just an acoustic guitar and her voice, later adding production layers. Since her start, Remelle has accumulated over 300K Spotify streams and over 100K hits on YouTube. Her repertoire ranges from electronic music, as in her song “Alone,” to a more alternative vibe, displayed in her track “Better,” allowing her to connect with a multitude of young, Gen-Z fans. Remelle’s dark electronic elements in her music are perfect for fans of Elohim, PVRIS, or VERITE.

“Get Well Soon” illustrates how younger artists are taking initiative to fuse genres and lay a fluid path for the future of music. Emma Remelle is undeniably an artist to keep on your radar.
