Through foggy shorelines and dense forests, Harry Hudson bares his heart in the video for his new single, “Overwhelmed.” The track is taken from his upcoming second studio album, Hey, I’m Here For You which will be released on November 20th. “Overwhelmed” is a highly personal track for Hudson who shares his self-doubts with the listener and grapples with the knowledge that he must let go of things in order to grow.
Hudson’s lyricism is poignant and emotionally aware with lines like, “When did you notice that I didn’t look at you the same way,” showcasing his vulnerability and how he owns up to the mistakes he has made. The song displays some of the hardest decisions that go into breakups, and Hudson acknowledges that he had to let go in order to grow, but wishes the best for that person. It’s a universally painful feeling that he expertly pours into the track.
The video is a stunning collection of beautiful and expansive scenery with Hudson clearly battling through his feelings. Directed by DirectedxMODELS, we see Harry looking out over vast, foggy ocean waters before retreating to a calm riverside and hiking through the Pacific Northwest forest. The video perfectly matches the aesthetic of the song by featuring the rawness of the outdoors that is both breathtaking and inspiring.
Hudson wrote and recorded the song in under 30 minutes after he was struck by a moment of inspiration. “I finished working on the album in Kentucky and about two hours before my flight left there was an idea I want to get out and this song shot out of me,” he said. “We wrote and recorded it in like 30 minutes. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album.”
