To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the iconic Jaws, horror-themed metalcore band, Ice Nine Kills, has released a new mini-documentary called Ice Nine Kills and the Jaws Harpoon Gun – along with a limited edition merch collection that if you haven’t gotten your hands on now, well, better luck next time.
Any horror movie buff knows that the 1975 production of Jaws is responsible for some of the most legendary and infamous moments in history – including a spike in legal and illegal shark fishing, rise in people’s fear of the ocean and paranoia in what lurks below the surface, setting the president as to when big box office releases should premiere and of course inspiring INK’s track “Rocking The Boat” off their 2018 album, The Silver Scream. To celebrate this monumental moment in movie history, Ice Nine Kills created a mini-doc to high some family history fans may not have been aware of about guitarist, Ricky Armellino. Not to mention an all-new limited collection for this month’s Nightmare On The Ninth that features some of the most essential beach attire like a towel and swimwear to the most relevant like their shark face mask. Nightmare On The Ninth collections are only ever available for just a few days before they are GONE FOR GOOD – or until the band decides they want to clean out their warehouse of old merch. Regardless if you missed this round of Jaws/“Rocking The Boat” inspired then you’ll just have to hope the next collection is better than the last.
The mini-documentary tells the story of how Ricky Armellino’s father acquired one of the original harpoon guns used in the film. Through a series of fortunate events, Mr. Armellino takes on a while ride of owning a part of cinematic history. INK frontman Spencer Charnas says, “The horror prop gods smiled upon INK with this extremely cool connection to one of the most important horror films of all time. Now that we have one of the harpoon guns, all we need is a piece of The Orca or The Kintner boy’s severed torso…”
But the movie magic fun doesn’t stop there for these guys – currently, Ice Nine Kills has launched an Enjoy Your Slay Vocal/Guitar Cover Contest, where fans can submit videos of themselves playing or singing their cover of “Enjoy Your Slay”. One lucky winner will be chosen from each category to win a custom Ice Nine Kills Horror Axe (like the one used by Jack Nicholson in The Shining!). More information on how to enter along with, lyrics, guitar tabs, and a thorough play-through tutorial from guitarist, Dan Sugarman can be found Here.
