KIDS, the Fort Lauderdale based alternative/ indie rock group, has shared the visuals for their hit track, “Dry Bones.” With layers of synths and hymn-like elements, the song offers intense lyrics like, “I feel the Muse, she smiles upon me / All of her stars are fallin’ on me / They’re calling me out / But I let everyone down around me.” The track boasts a hopeful melody with lyrics that tell an emotional tale of perseverance, accompanied by colorful scenes of a futuristic, otherworldly island and the people on it.
Speaking on the track and video, the band shares, “‘Dry Bones’ is a song about resistance, the internal conflict we face as a result, and the antidote we use to overcome it. When we were writing the treatment for the music video we wanted our protagonist to be plagued with this sentiment. Typically in life we aren’t given a forewarning prior to being whirled into a downward spiral of anxiety or depression. We just find ourselves there, and it can seem like we are playing the lead in our own sci-fi epic to overcome it.”
“Dry Bones” is fresh off the band’s full-length sophomore album, Lost Cities, which was just released this past Friday via Tooth & Nail Records. KIDS delivers alt/indie rock with a dreamy, ethereal new sound. This is their latest single, following the previously released tracks “Not Enough”, “Visitor”, “All Smoke, No Fire” and “Pale Horse.” With themes of escape and imagination, their spacey style and genuine authenticity make them easy to love. With a cinematic aspect to their music, along with sweeping soundscapes and epic brass sections, the self adorned group of “sad boys” use their sophisticated skills to sing about love and loss. Their music is dedicated to those who try to be a positive force and create change in the world around them.
KIDS formed in 2012 and released their first full-length album in 2015. The band made up of Matthew Barrios, Joshua Diaz, Christian Gonzalez, Josiah Sampson, and Andrew Woomer, is connected by a common goal: to stay true to yourself. Both artists and storytellers, the band is inspired by the Picasso quote that says, “All children are artists; the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
