Kulick Waiting For You

Pennsylvania based alternative rock/pop artist Kulick has released the video for his emotional track, “Waiting For You.” Taken from his 2020 debut album Yelling In A Quiet Neighborhood, the track navigates feelings of loneliness and the panic of meeting one’s soulmate at the wrong time. It’s a powerful track built up by driving percussion and blissful pop-rock production. The video arrives in conjunction with Kulick’s freshly released acoustic EP Sitting In A Quiet Coffeehouse — which reimagines some of the fan favorites off his latest album into unplugged, softer renditions.

“I always feel heavy waking up in the morning/I only feel light when I think about you,” Kulick sings in “Waiting For You,” expressing the redemptive feelings that come with loving relationship. Later in the track, Kulick asks his lover if they will wait for him as he needs time to fully commit to them. These frustrations of timing and conflicts within a relationship are incredibly relatable and make the song one of the most impactful off of the album.

The video for “Waiting For You,” finds Kulick alone in a dark room contrasted by bright red flower petals and light colored paint dripping down his face and hands. This juxtaposition matches the excitement and depression of the lyrics of the song. Kulick paints over mirrors only to find his face still reflecting, unable to avoid what he sees. In the climax of the video — when he has become drenched in paint and emotion — he finds his lover similarly covered in paint ready to embrace him. They both display their scars and join together having finally found their connection. It’s a truly beautiful video that alleviates the anxieties of the track with a hopeful message.

The new EP Sitting In A Quiet Coffeehouse directly contrasts the bombast of 2020’s Yelling In A Quiet Neighborhood. Even in name, the coffeehouse vibe is certainly the opposite of one shouting into a quiet space. Yet, the EP allows Kulick to explore other elements of his sound and show the great diversity in his approach to music. While the video for “Waiting For You” is for the original recording, this raw emotion is displayed even greater in the acoustic take off of the new EP.  Of the inspiration for the Sitting In A Quiet Coffeehouse, Kulick said: “I created the album Sitting in a Quiet Coffeehouse which gives a new perspective to my most recent album Yelling in a Quiet Neighborhood. I have always felt the strongest with songs in their acoustic form. Re-recording these songs with more of a ‘coffeehouse’ vibe (hence the name Sitting in a Quiet Coffeehouse) made me remember what it was like when I first learned the acoustic guitar and when I first recorded these songs. It made me feel a bittersweet nostalgia in both cases. It also made me realize how sad some of these songs actually are when you take away all of the production. Overall, I hope it gives fans, both new and old, some KULICK songs that are more ‘chill’ than normal, but still organic and authentic.”

Kulick is one of the most promising faces in the alternative rock/pop world. Having toured with rock greats like Sleeping With Sirens, The Rocket Summer, and Andy Black, Kulick’s unique sound sets him apart from other alt-rock acts. The passion and emotion in his music is unmatched in his field.  He released his first single “Ghost” back in 2018, followed quickly by his debut EP Hydroplane. His debut album was much anticipated, and the acoustic EP, which was released on April 30th, was a welcome surprise to fans. Stay tuned for more from Kulick!
