LaCore has released their newest single and music video “That Thing.” The indie-rock anthem comes paired with a three minute thriller inspired video that will have listeners waiting to see what comes next. 

LaCore is a new musical venture from world-touring sound engineer Jake Thompson. Accompanied by star guitarist Mihailo Lukic, Thompson is taking his love for indie rock to the next level. After a chance meeting in early 2020, the two decided to collaborate on this new project, resulting in their first official single “That Thing” that highlights Thompson’s amazing vocals and Lukie’s insane guitar skills.

“That Thing” is the epitome of indie-rock. Thompson’s vocals are reminiscent of both Arctic Monkeys and Gang of Youths, backed by Lukic’s whining guitar. With a driving drumbeat and ever-moving guitar line, “That Thing” is the perfect track for sailing down the interstate with the windows down. The melody is infectious and the lyrics are relatable. “The song is a nod to the things we tend to repeat,” Thompson said, “sometimes things that keep us going, and sometimes things that we wish we could stop.”

The music video is full of fun movie references like Beetlejuice and Blade. Set in a miniature model town, the viewer follows Thompson as he speeds through this gloomy metropolis on the hunt for vampires. Merging green screen effects with live action elements gives the video a vintage, comic book feel. This dystopian town could easily be a twin of Gotham City. It’s thrilling,  creative, and hopefully a preview of everything that’s to come from the talented duo.

LaCore is starting out strong with a track that’s guaranteed to have listeners singing along. “That Thing” is a brilliantly executed track with an equally well-produced music video. With a 2021 EP on the way, LaCore is on a fast-track to success.
