Alternative rock outfit Livingmore have released “Got Me Feelin’ Like,” the latest single from the quartet’s forthcoming sophomore album, Take Me, due out May 21 via Nomad Eel Records. Frontwoman Alex Moore shines in the track, with her silky smooth vocals gliding over guitars and keys that are drenched with soul and feel-good vibes.
The track opens with a distorted bass boogieing around subtle drum taps before keys join in the mix and Moore gapes her mouth, sending all listeners swooning. Her honeyed vocals swim right around the techno-like keys before she completely opens up, letting her prospective partner know they make her feel on top of the world with no way down. A brief guitar solo ensues, highlighting just how strongly Moore feels about them. In the bridge, Moore croons gorgeously over a soaring bass line, and it feels like the first step to the pearly gates. It fades out with a soft piano riff, calming to a simmer after one vastly exuberant performance.
A pair of boots is seen walking into a convenience store before the camera flashes to drummer Mike Schadel basking in the moment. The video constantly flips back and forth between the two scenes, moving from Moore singing directly to the camera to the cowboy walking in coming into full view. The worker behind the cash register stares at him, dumbstruck. The other patrons stare at him, too, before the cowboy approaches the checkout counter, winks and tips his hat to the cashier, who smiles with adoration back. The cowboy picks up a pair of star-shaped sunglasses, and other customers start filming him as he unabashedly dances. He picks up a bag of chips and tells the customers to go long, and they all throw their hands up, demanding to be the one to share a moment with him. Moore is found in her area subtly dancing as her fellow bandmates all dance while pouring their soul into their respective instruments. Meanwhile, the cowboy starts doing the worm next to gobs of cheers before the cashier mouths “I love you” to him. The cowboy, who’s actually just a cashier himself, wakes up from his dream to the sound of his dream girl knocking on the counter, annoyingly asking if he’ll just let her buy the candy bar she wanted.
Of the track, Moore shares: “‘Got Me Feelin’ Like’ has to do with someone being drunk off their own ego and nothing can ruin their time, even though their life isn’t where they want it to be today – it doesn’t matter! The video is very much a direct representation of what the song is lyrically about. I enjoy mixing reality with fantasy. Daydreams are sometimes grander than where we’re actually standing.”
“Got Me Feelin’ Like” is the follow-up to “Sharp,” which commemorates the idea of enjoying who you are and the moment you’re in. Take Me will arrive before you know it, so start preparing now for what is bound to be one of the best of the year.
