The Finnish indie rock trio, messier, excitedly celebrate their signing with SideOneDummy Records — where they previously released singles “Salt Water Flush” and “Pollyanna” — with their latest music video for “Pollyanna.”

The band loves to play with ideas of balance.  “Having that full range of dynamics is really important to us. Loud and soft, light and dark; songs need to have a little bit of everything in order to feel human,” shares frontman Lauri Hummonen. It’s evident in the visuals for “Pollyanna” where the band plays summer sports in the thick northern snow. Hummonen wears a flower crown with his winter fit, a visual representation of the bands balance.

The song is melodically simple, with clear and memorable hook. There’s a sense in duality in how the guitars flow consistently playing back and forth. It’s crystal clear and gritty tones have a place between the drums sparsely keep the time. Lyrically though, it’s a slightly bitter parting message to someone, “Hey, you really made your point and choose to pride yourself on it. And yeah, you figured that the truth may lie between two opposites.” messier explores the softer side of their sound compared to their upbeat style like in “Salt Water Flush.

Singer/guitarist Lauri Hummonen, bassist Antti Orajärvi and drummer Kristian Jokilahti make up messier — with the three having grown up with a fascination for American and British music despite the fact they grew up in Finland. The trio’s songs walk a tightrope between gritty aggression and delicate sensitivity, tackling disappointment and disillusionment with sharp insight and sardonic wit. messier has crafted their own sound similar to the likes of PUP, mom jeans and even Neck Deep. Despite it being only three years into playing together, they have found themselves signed with OneSideDummy Records. We are very honored to be the first Finnish band to sign with SideOneDummy Records. It’s so exciting to join the record label who have worked with artists that have meant so much to us personally and as a band.”
