Ambidextrous-beautest Racquel Jones pièce de résistance prevails within a blank canvas and a musical contour. Trailing off of the triumph of her awe-inspiring new record IgnoRANT via Magnetic Moon Records, it’s unmistakable that the Jamaica native is proficient in wearing multiple hats. Jones is a heart-stopping model, skilled hip hop artist and rapper, and adept visual artist and just lofted a music video for her single “Hurt.”

“Hurt” is swimming in an inbound scope of individuality encompassing self-love, relationships, and heartbreak. The single inaugurates with palpitating percussion cherried with a jingle-jangly bell clearing way for Jones‘ lustrous vocal offerings. The instrumentation is sprinkled with organically synthesized annotations as the singer + songwriter corresponds her crisp message in a verbal, rhythmic manner approximately one-thirds of a way in.

The music visual, directed by Dante Marino, illustrates Jones spitting her fresh craftsmanship onto a blank canvas. Her creative process is depicted throughout the length of the video as her techniques bundle up to reveal a stunning showpiece by the end.

Jones shares about the single, “‘Hurt is a collision of performance art and emotional pain, climaxing into a cathartic release in a creative controlled space. Visual art and music have always been my release; the way I make sense of what I’m feeling, and the space most conducive and comfortable for me to retreat and heal. This video is literally a voyage into this emotional, psychological and artistic process. No script. No plans of what to paint. Stripped down with a blank canvas, painting my feelings, feeling my words, with palpable emotions of being hurt, with pain hovering and taunting, as I seek to release it once and for all. The end result of this release culminates into a picture, immortalizing and representing the relief of finally releasing. This video symbolizes a space for others to break, fall apart, confront the pain, tell it what it did, heal, be relieved then embrace a new day.”
The singer + songwriter’s new 12-song collection, IgnoRANT was the number one most added new release on the NACC Hip Hop Adds Chart in its first week of release and landed number 25 on the NACC Hip Hop Chart. IgnoRANT depicts plentifully convoluted affairs that are not mainstream but near and dear to Jones‘ heart.
Supplementary, the multifaceted artisté is a respected vocalist for the American electronic duo Thievery Corporation, composed of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, and is signed to Garza’s record label Magnetic Moon.
