She’s called out those on the outside – now it’s time for those closest to answer the call
Independent powerhouse mogul, Snow Tha Product is back with another sure-fire hit in, “Really Counts”. Released mere hours ago, the track is quickly climbing towards 100K views on YouTube alone. Last month Snow dropped her raw and real single, “On My Shit (Freestyle)” where she calls out those who have ever cast doubts on her success and hustle. “On My Shit” has already accumulated over 2.4 million views so to say Snow has a bit of a following is quite the understatement.
“Really Counts” brings fans outside her new home with a quick glimpse of its inside. Gone are the lighthearted antics that usually grace her music videos – these last two singles have required no games from the Latina rapper as she spits her truth. While “On My Shit” called out those who stand outside her circle, “Really Counts” becomes a necessary question to those who stand beside Snow. “I wanna see if you really was with it or if you gon’ leave after getting the clout…Please don’t tell me you got my back, I wanna see when it really count” – fires Snow as the camera pans from side to side. “Really Counts” begs for an answer, regardless if she’s ready for it – commenting on how hard she’s worked and all the ‘L’s’ she’s had to take over the years, you hear the exhaustion looming in her voice of this same old song and dance. “Different person, the stories the same again/Motherfuckers tryna get a little fame again.”
As Snow Tha Product has made clear over the last few years of her career – she knows she can kill it all on her own, she knows she can make it to the top solo, but having a tribe standing behind you holds a different sense of worth and success. As this cut-throat industry will make abundantly clear to artists young and old – fresh and legendary – those closest can turn on you in an instant and it’s heartbreaking every time.
On Tuesday night, Snow Tha Product took to Instagram to give fans some insight on her upcoming project VALEMADRE – due out very soon. “It’s just being a VALEMADRE – that’s why. It’s like, I’m like, I don’t give a fuck. Now I’m officially – I always said I didn’t give a fuck, I always gave a fuck – officially I don’t give a fuck no more. Like this is it – this is me finally realizing ‘oh shit, all the shit that I told y’all, that y’all told me I was wrong on, was right – and now I don’t give a fuck!’” Snow continues, “This is a freeing project. This is a collection – that’s why under the title it says ‘collection by Claudia’ because now I’m coming back to me, Claudia, the person. For so long I used Snow Tha Product as my alter ego who was not shy and wasn’t introverted and wasn’t second guessing herself and wasn’t depressed. That was my superpower but now it’s like I’m coming back to me and being like ‘oh shit this person is that person – its me.’ I’m really excited it’s released songs, it’s new songs, it’s all of it….There’s singy songs and there’s emotional songs and there’s love, and there’s fuckin’ hard aggressive songs and then there’s fuckin’ reggaeton vibes….There’s everything, it’s just a big salsa.”
