static cycle stayStatic Cycle has shared their latest single, “Stay.” From the start, the warm guitar line comforts you and pulls you in. Jared Navarre’s vocals are soothing and soft, guiding the emotional lyrics, singing — “You’re somewhere far away with the best of me / And I’m left with the rest / And I will need a helping hand / If these two feet will ever dance again / So, I’ll stay here / Your laugh is what I miss most / I hope the heavens are hearing it every day / It’s so hard living with your ghost / I want to join you more than I can say.” Playing softly among a room of lit candles, the scenes flash from a performance of the song to messages of remembrance and honoring lives lost. Raw and honest, the song encapsulates the loss and grief that comes with a life is taken too soon. The track is relatable to all, and has even been featured on NPR’s New Music Friday playlist.

The track is a deeply personal song written by front man Jared Navarre, who wrote the song for his best friend’s son, Ian — who tragically passed away suddenly at a young age while in gym class. On the night of Ian’s wake, his dad said to Jared, “I don’t care when, what it’s about, or if you ever release it…but will you please write a song for Ian?” After years of struggling to write the song, it is finally complete.

While discussing the concept of a video with Ian’s dad, Static Cycle came up with an idea to use Ian’s story and song to promote unity and healing through a shared sense of grief. Throughout the summer, they asked fans to stand holding a handwritten sign with the name of a person they lost and what they miss most about that person, and then wove the clips throughout the video for “Stay.” Sadly, the video features the addition of Jared himself holding a sign for his mom, who passed away just this week. “In these very divided times, I think we all as humans can unite through the value of life and what it feels like to suffer the loss of a loved one,” Navarre shares.

Jared Navarre came on the scene at age 19, with MTV calling him “the greatest young front man in rock” as he built a reputation for his highly energetic performances. In 2013, Navarre moved to Nashville, where he began recording Static Cycle music with multi-instrumentalist Andy Sheridan and renowned drummer Lester Estelle Jr.

His strong, distinct voice helped Static Cycle gain national notoriety with their second album, Part 1: Hydrate. Acclaimed hit single “Inside This World of Mine” was produced by GRAMMY-winner Josh “Tone” Weaver, and received praise from E!, Entertainment Tonight, NY Daily News, HuffPost, and more.  They went on to spend several years touring across the country with artists like Daughtry, Ludacris, Drowning Pool, Seether, Puddle of Mudd, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Alien Ant Farm.
