Texas-bred alternative rock group, Sunsleep, have released their mesmerizing new track titled ‘New Sensations,‘ along with a futuristic animated music video. With an enchanted hook, emotional lyrics, and strong vocals, the track is intense and slightly cinematic. The lyrics are fitting for this strange reality we’ve all found ourselves in, “This is a new sensation that you can’t control / We’re in a simulation but you’ll never know / Something in my head catching on my breath, I swear it wasn’t there before.”
Frontman, Devin Barrus, spoke about the new track, saying, “‘New Sensations’ is a song we wrote in the studio while working with Erik Ron [Panic! At The Disco, Set It Off, Blessthefall], we wanted to experiment a bit with a more upbeat approach to our typical sound and really felt like we tapped into another mood sonically for us, but not too far off from our previous material. This song carries a light, positive message about chasing highs that take you where you wanna go and feeling a sense of unity.”
The track itself is transcendent, filled with powerful belts from Devin. “New Sensations” feels like that track that’s been missing from all of our Myspace playlists. “New Sensations” is reminiscent in the sound of the likes of There For Tomorrow and Don Broco – while the video itself feels like it lives adjacent to the universe that houses blockbuster hit, iRobot. With the ease that this track allows in viewer consumption its no wonder that their comment threads are filled with praise from fans and critics alike. “The guys are getting better every day, this band will grow even more,” writes one fan. While another proclaims, “Ive never wanted to share a song faster than this! Super catchy and enjoyable to listen and groove to!”
While Sunsleep was originally formed as a studio writing projection 2017, but ultimately decided they wanted to continue this musical journey together after the release of their debut single, “Fever”. Sunsleep’s style seeks to blur the lines between rock, pop melodies alined with catchy choruses. “New Sensations” brings on a world of feelings that vibrate through your body – it’s absolutely impossible to sit still while this groove is playing. “New Sensations” joins “Dead” in Sunsleep’s 2020 releases – but with no new album since their 2018 EP, I Hope To See You Again With Brand New Eyes, it may be safe to say that Sunsleep is due to drop an official full-length record.
