Southern Florida’s alt-rock band The Haunt recently shared the video for their fiery new single “Make Me King.” Produced by guitarist and vocalist Maxamillion Haunt and Grammy nominated engineer Brandon Frieson, the track features a darker sound intertwined with a heavy rock influence. Along with Maxamilian Haunt, sister and frontwoman Anastatia Grace’s captivating vocal stylings can be heard belting hard-hitting lines — “Had to cut you off/Had to take a walk/Learn to love someone/Who doesn’t love them self at all.”

The video opens with flashing shots of Grace sitting on a bed, draped in sinister red lighting that is found throughout the video. This shot cuts to her coming down a set of stairs, featuring hauntingly glitchy camera work. Following the band through different settings, the video keeps an eerie theme. When the guitar comes thundering in, the glitchy camera work returns, creating an ominous feeling. Reminiscent of a horror film, the visuals for “Make Me King” remind us of the darker side of human nature.

With its dark and painful lyrics, “Make Me King” beautifully conveys the complexities of human nature. Maxamillion Haunt spoke about the track, saying‘Make Me King’ is a sadistic little tale about an unintentionally abusive relationship. And how human nature can be a tiny bit insidious. We’ve all been there, it’s never pretty but it’s always interesting,”

Make Me King” comes at the heels of the band’s successful single “Hollywood, which was featured in Hulu’s original film Plan B. The film also features actress Victoria Moroles sporting a The Haunt shirt in the opening scene. Unlike the rock edge of “Make Me King,” “Hollywood” features a punk infused moment, reminiscent of Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl.”  Their recent EP, Social Intercourse, continues to prove the band’s versatility, with vocals reminiscent of Hayley Williams. With emotional lyrics and an impressive discography, it’s no surprise they were featured in AltPress’ 100 Artists You Need To Know.

Tomorrow marks the start of The Haunt hitting the road in support of The HU on their North American leg of The Hun Tour. The tour will be hitting 30 different cities between the US and Canada, ending in LA. This comes after their last successful North American tour with Palaye Royale. Armed with anthems, The Haunt is sure to put on a show no one will want to miss. You can find tickets linked below as well as all the dates you can catch The Haunt supporting The HU.
