Straight out of Jersey City, NJ, long time rock veterans The Milwaukees have just released their first single and music video since 2011, No Way Out.  The rock and roll anthem is the perfect step back into the spotlight for the group. Starting off on the piano, the track transitions into a more alt-rock sound. The video – shot mostly handheld – is both genuine and nostalgic, flipping back and forth from scenes on the street, in their workspaces, people dancing in the street, and to the band performing together. With great lyrics, a familiar beat, and strong instrumentals, the song gives you the feeling that you’ve found yourself in a late 90s movie.

Later in August, the band will release their sixth studio album, THE CALLING. The album track begins with No Way Out and moves through softer tracks called Falling, Stay Gold and eventually to more upbeat tracks like Mother Mary and expansive Proud of Me,  to more solemn songs like Wild at Heart and Highwire,  ending with the title track, The Calling.  The album’s style can compare to contemporaries such as The Hold Steady and The Gaslight Anthem, as well as to long time influences Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Replacements. The track was produced by Tom Beaujour whose experience includes record production, music journalism, and performance (Nuthouse Recording, Nada Surf, Juliana Hatfield, Guided by Voices, Guitar World, Revolver, Guitar Aficionado, Witch Taint band member).

The Milwaukees have been delivering classic rock for over 20 years, and they are excited about their comeback. The timeless band has re-embraced long time fans coming back for more, as well as new fans to join the hype. Time Out New York raved The Milwaukees distinguish themselves… by actually expressing some emotion, rather than just peering inward, and they charge forward with energy and nice melodies and harmonies. Good stuff.”  Rehearsing together since high school in their parents’ garage, The Milwaukees are lead singer/guitarist/songwriter Dylan Clark and singer/lead guitarist Jeff Nordstedt, alongside recent members bassist Donovan Cain and drummer Austin Faxon.

Jeff and I have played together for a long time. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, but through it all It’s been easy to sustain our partnership because we both just love playing this music together. We never followed musical trends we’ve always just chased a sound that excites us, said Dylan. I think The Milwaukees is a band that exists outside of time. Jeff jokes, I mean, how else can you account for staying together for 20 years?
