Alternative rock band, The Revivalists, continue their chart-topping career with the release of a studio version of “You and I (Made In Muscle Shoals).” They have been playing this song live for years, and it has been a fan favorite. The reimagined version was produced for the band’s recent EP Made In Muscle Shoals, after appearing on Take Good Care (Loma Vista Recordings) – a gift to fans after hearing the live version for years. Filmed and recorded in Alabama at the legendary FAME Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals, the new version of “You and I” drives frontman David Shaw’s marvelous, recognizable vocals forward as the rest of the band create a new funky take on the track. “We had no preconceived notion about how we wanted the songs to change before going into FAME Studios. We really wanted the vibe of the room to guide us to that place. ‘You and I’ really took its shape once Zack landed on that new riff you hear in the beginning,” shares Shaw.
The video was filmed in the studio as the band worked on the reimagined track. Head bobs and toe-tapping are shown in the video as the groovy bassline kicks off the song. Each scene of the video coincides with what instrument overpowers at the moment. The members of the band vibe with the song as they are recording and filming. The live studio version of the video is a treat for fans who have been affected by the band’s decision to postpone their spring tour. Shaw is shown getting groovy as he records his vocals and matches the same energy you would see at a live show.
The Revivalists surprised their fans with a studio EP Made In Muscle Shoals at the beginning of the year. The EP contains brilliantly re-imagined hit singles from the band that include “Oh No,” “Change,” and “All My Friends” from their latest studio album Take Good Care, an emotional performance of The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody,” a beautifully stripped-down version of their platinum-selling hit “Wish I Knew You,” and a brand new song “Bitter End.” Capturing the essence of the band on their 10-year journey, The Revivalists released an accompanying documentary that dives deep into what makes the band tick against the backdrop of Muscle Shoals.
