WATCH: Yours Truly Release New Single + Music Video “UNDERSIZE”
We’re just over a month and half away from the release of their debut album, ‘Self Care’
Yesterday, Aussie pop-punk band, Yours Truly has dropped a new single off their upcoming debut album, Self Care. With just over a month until the record’s release via UNFD, “Undersize” is the latest song to join the album’s lead single, “Together” – paired with a video built on simplicity as not to overpower the track.
Still young bucks to the scene, Yours Truly gained a whirlwind of traction with their 2019 release Afterglow. The EP caught the attention of fans and critics alike and soon had them appearing on the festival circuit, being featured at Download UK, Riot Fest, Slam Dunk & the rescheduled, Sad Summer 2021. With 2 EPs and a hit track [“High Hopes”] that sits comfortably at 11 Million lifetime streams, Yours Truly are embarking on the next chapter in their budding music career with their first full-length album.
Self Care holds themes of mental health and speaks strongly to front-woman, Mikaila Delgado, overcoming her own personal battles. However, with “Undersize”, it pays tribute to a close friend of Mikaila – “This song is really a letter to a close friend of mine. While watching them navigating their life through all the ups, downs, and obstacles life throws at them, I wrote this just to let them know that I’m here for them through all of that.” The track itself reads like an elevated acoustic – a smooth delivery allowing for easy digestion. The choice in making “Undersize” more of a stripped-down track versus a straight ballad, makes the message more genuine – versus feeling like forced emotion.
The music video is simple yet wholesome. In an assumed living room filled with their equipment and foliage, Yours Truly delivers a heartfelt message that perhaps just a few of their fans needed to hear as well. While Self Care displays strong themes of various moments and struggles of mental health, there’s something about having an ‘ode to you’ track that touches a deeper part of your soul. “Undersize” comes off like a warm hug, filled with love and support. While having fun bangers like “Together” makes for an exciting escape outside your mind, sometimes it’s necessary to be reminded that it’s ok to not be ok.
Self Care is set to debut on September 18 via UNFD – with pre-orders available now [linked below]. With the release still over a month away, perhaps Yours Truly will share just a bit more of this already stellar album.
