Happy Monday everyone! We’re pumped to premiere our fourth episode of the Play Too Much video series with indie folk super group Early Winters. If your’e not familiar with the group here’s the scoop: Early Winters began as an informal afternoon of writing between friends that blossomed into an expansive musical partnership. Based in Los Angeles and Toronto and made up of acclaimed UK singer Carina Round (Puscifer/Tears for Fears), two time Juno nominated/Canadian Folk Awards winner Justin Rutledge, Grammy Nominated/Juno Award Winner L.A. producer/musician Dan Burns and highly acclaimed musician Zac Rae who’s recent work includes My Brightest Diamond, Lana Del Ray, Damian Rice and Gotye to name but a few.
The group came to New York a few months back, and we got to hang out with them at Village Music World in the West Village. We drank some beers and produced some videos. In fact, you may have seen some of our video work on the Vinyl District premiere a few months back.
Their album Vanishing Act, has the polished sonic quality of any contemporary recording, yet has the soul of a timeless classic. Their songs tell the story of the human condition. The story of Vanishing Act swings like a swift pendulum while Carina and Justin pour their hearts out as if you were eavesdropping in a confession booth. Our staff picks from this album are: Up In Arms, Let My Love Weigh You Down, and not to mention the two songs being premiered today.
Anyway, without any further adieu, Early Winters
