EP REVIEW: LUNA AURA Is Changing The Game With Her New EP, THREE CHEERS FOR THE AMERICAN BEAUTY

LUNA AURA is making waves with her new EP, THREE CHEERS FOR THE AMERICAN BEAUTY. The alternative singer/songwriter is unapologetically outspoken, and makes that clear on this project. THREE CHEERS FOR THE AMERICAN BEAUTY is a concept EP about the female identity and its relationship with modern American culture. Each track goes hand in hand with a short story that follows the tale of an anti-hero and her journey into self-realization and rebellion. An interactive multimedia project, the 6-track EP allows listeners to be fully immersed, following along and becoming a part of the characters’ stories, guided by the music that inspired them.
“CRASH DRIVE” starts off the EP strong, with a bad-ass, kick-down the door vibe. A empowering anthem full of grunge and intense guitar riffs, she leaves listeners eager to keep up with her bold and brash style. Infectious and raunchy, “HONEY“ follows with high energy and filled with edgy instrumentation. “TALKING TO ME” emphasizes LUNA’s empowering lyricism with a strong underlining message and killer instrumentation. Speaking on the track LUNA shares, “TALKING TO ME” is about no longer accepting silence as a viable option. It’s about being pushed around and learning to push back despite the odds that are against you. I found my voice, my head, and my gut when I wrote this song. It’s a reminder of the moment I grew into myself and my power.”
“ENGLISH BOYS” gears up for a night out on the town in a chill montage type of way. Enticing and full of ethereal backup vocals, this track quickly became a personal favorite. “PAPERCUT” follows that same lighter vibe, but adding some deeper and darker instrumentation to higher pitched and layered vocals. “BABYDOLL” closes the project with a sexy, seductive feel with a tale of wandering eyes. Full of powerful vocals and a fiery streak, the track wraps up the EP in a way that reinforces her bold and bad-ass signature style.
The JT Daly produced record draws on childhood influences like Garbage, NIN, Hole and Gwen Stefani to craft songs that are fresh, provocative, and bold, which fit perfectly with her vibrant, in-your-face, live performance style.
Speaking on the project, LUNA shares, “THREE CHEERS FOR THE AMERICAN BEAUTY is a concept EP about the cultural and societal conditioning that I was able to rid myself of once I learned to trust myself and step into my womanhood. It’s about autonomy, and never letting anyone control you or tell you where you belong.”
LUNA AURA is hell bent on paving her own path. The triple threat singer, songwriter, and producer, delivers genre-bending alternative tracks that bring up themes of rebellion, feminism, and individuality. Her original and brash style has gained her attention from GQ, Teen Vogue, NYLON, Idolator, MTV, VH1, Ones To Watch and more. LUNA has also shared stages with some of music’s biggest names, including: The Killers, K.Flay, Muse, Weezer, Garbage, P!nk, Odesza, and more. She has also earned spots on the festival circuit, with appearances at KAABOO, Lost Lake, So What Music Fest, and EMERGE, amongst others.
