Earlier this month hardcore act, Underoath, announced that they would be hosting 3 live stream concerts over the course of a three week period. Each week would feature an album from the mist their discography – this week Underoath perform in Define The Great Line in its entirety.
This past Friday, Underoath completely blew fans away with their live stream of Lost In The Sound Of Separation. Releasing a teaser video the day of the performance showcasing their soundcheck at “50%” – fans were beyond ready to experience their favorite hardcore act under a different light. From fan’s response, Underoath definitely cranked up the final performance to 100% and beyond. “It was so good! The only thing missing was Spencer spitting his water on us but the beer is much cheaper here” – proclaimed one fan. While another fan-made sure to spare no expense for creating an authentic experience, “my [girlfriend] and I moved all our living room furniture to the side so we could mosh with our 2 friends coming over. My downstairs neighbors are going to hate us.” If you missed night 1, fear not as the live is still available on-demand until August 31 with your ticket. Despite not being packed in a tiny room full of sweaty strangers, Underoath and fans had one of the most unforgettable nights – so why not indulge in part 2?
This week the guys will be undoubtedly breaking out all the stops for their 2006 iconic release, Define The Great Line. This album can easily be said to have defined their career – not only in being the second album that frontman Spencer Chamberlain’s iconic vocals are featured [and ultimately solidifying him as a permanent member] but also housing the most recognized Underoath track of their discography, “Writing On The Walls”. Alternative Press noted Chamberlain’s vocals [in an original review piece], “between Chamberlain’s deeply troubled writing and drummer/singer Aaron Gillespie’s, Define sounds like a group-therapy session put to tape.”
While “Writing On The Walls” went on to become the featured single off Define The Great Line – drummer, Aaron Gillespie, shared in an interview with AP that, “I think ‘A Moment Suspended In Time’ should have been the single. They did a video for that song, but it was never the single, but I think that’s the catchiest song on the record.” Even though Aaron may not have gotten his single wish, fans have been more than outspoken about their love for an underrated track. One fan saying, “Soo intense ! You can feel and see the sincere raw emotion in their words and eyes and how they burst at the top of their lungs to let it all out ! GREAT BAND ALL AROUND !” With another proclaiming, “So much talent. Man, I love everything about this song.”
But this Friday you’ll be able to hear them ALL – the show kicks off at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT. General tickets are still only $15 [linked below], but bundles featuring exclusive merch are also available – including vinyl! While you impatiently wait for another unforgettable night, relearn all the words from a defining moment in Underoath history.
