Hand Made House have released their latest pop-infused single, “Like the Weather.” The track soars with a soft pop vibe that will not only grab listeners’ attention with full force, but instill feel-good vibes into the entire atmosphere — despite its sorrowful, unfortunately relatable lyricism.
The track opens with a Machine Gun Kelly-esque guitar riff overlaying the faint hum of a synth gradually worming its way to the forefront. Before it can completely take off and emerge as the star, another synth pops, allowing a bass line to surface, and frontman Tucker Click arrives. He admits he’s nowhere near over his ex, even though they haven’t seen each other in a hot minute. He tells himself he’s over them but accidentally slips and says he hopes they call when they’re alone.
He reminisces on how they broke off things between them so they could work out their own personal issues, but he knows deep down he’s the culprit. Despite his misleading actions, he’s deeply infatuated with them and hopes he can find a way to make amends, make things right. The last minute transforms into a pop-punk banger, as Click finally releases all of his pent-up feelings via a brief scream. It’s hard to tell what will happen between the two of them, but given that Click has finally seemed to learn his lesson, we can only hope the ultimate outcome is positive.
Of the single, the band shares: “Like the Weather is our edgy comeback from our pop driven EP, ‘Honestly, Honesty’ released in 2020. We’ve felt as though we’ve always been good at sad or bitter songs, and this last year was unfortunately a time where I felt a lot of those emotions. I remember moving to California and trying to write joyful songs still, and then telling Amin and Josh ‘I’m not happy, and I feel like I’m lying trying to write songs that feel happy.’ This song was a culmination of a lot of pent up feelings and a lot of soul searching. I wanted the song to feel like the waves of emotion that I was dealing with on a day to day basis.”
Hand Made House have continued to release bop after bop following their golden debut EP, How It Ends and Where I’m Going. The four boys knew they were destined for greatness after they met at Berklee College of Music, and now, they’re putting it in motion. There’s more luster where they came from, too, so be on the lookout for more from the quartet.
