LISTEN: Lindsey Stirling Surprises Fans With New Single ‘What You’re Made Of’

Lindsey Stirling What You're Made Of review

Platinum-selling, violin-driven electronic, and multi-talented artist, Lindsey Stirling abruptly dropped her new single “What You’re Made Of” featuring electro-pop artist Kiesza on vocals. Lindsey collaborated with the 2D mobile shooter game, Azur Lane, setting her new track as the official theme song in celebration of the games’ 2nd anniversary. The pop song is both empowering and anthemic. The artist wrote the track at an all-female writing camp called SheWrites, with RuthAnne Cunningham and Wendy Wang. The song contains a bold vibe that mixes perfectly with Azur Lane’s philosophy of the world that is based on a water-covered planet that is head-to-head with enigmatic enemies called Siren. All battleship camps join forces to develop an organization called “Azur Lane” who fight to protect this wonderful world. “What You’re Made Of” is the first taste of this era for Lindsey Stirling.

“I’ve always loved anime art and I was ecstatic when I got to write a song for an anime game that revolved around female empowerment,” shares Lindsey. It was also perfect because I wrote this song at an all-female writing camp. It’s about how even when you feel broken, you are so incredibly powerful. It’s in the moments of near defeat that you chart your truest fate because the way you react when you’re at the bottom really shows what you’re made of.”

The track opens with strong, fierce vocals with a cinematic build that can easily draw-in the listener. The drop is then led by an orchestral melody, creating a pleasant, soulful track that is emotive throughout. The lyric video features scenes and images from the game that is set on a gorgeous water-covered planet. “What You’re Made Of” is the perfect vibey, empowering summer song that every girl needs as seasonal depression starts to kick in around this time.

Along with the release of this new single, Lindsey has also announced a virtual concert experience with Wave, which will be in support of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
