California-based alternative and pop-rock MVSSIE has released her latest powerful single, “Monsters Under My Bed.” The track starts with a soothing guitar line that soon explodes in the chorus with fiery vocals, all-too-relatable lyrics and bouncy drums.
The opening of the track feels like a glimpse into much better days, far away from the chaos the world is currently experiencing. MVSSIE enters the scene, her angsty lyrics brought to life by the breath of fresh air that is her vocals. While MVSSIE continues to hear voices and fear the worst is around her, she continues to bless listeners, adding a dash of drums in the process before detonating in the chorus with roaring guitars and her head voice. The last 15 seconds simmer back down to the relaxation of the intro, signifying that even though she’s scared, she’s found a way to alleviate her anxiety for the time being. The emotion is so blatant and her words are so convincing that you soon might think you’re hearing monsters at night, too.
The track is a perfect starting point for people, say, trying to understand what their friend who’s struggling with mental health is going through. Those who have never experienced those types of feelings often have difficulty understanding what it’s like, and MVSSIE puts it in a digestible way that can propel listeners soon on their way to being able to properly support their friends.
