Pop-punk favorites,Pale Waves have just released their second single “Reasons To Live” from their upcoming album, Unwanted — due out August 12 via Dirty Hit. As they gear up to hit the road as main support for 5 Seconds of Summer, Pale Waves delivers yet another hit the form of a classic pop-rock beat and visual lyricism.
Frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie speaks on the new single sharing, “‘Reasons To Live’ is about a time when I felt truly drained and incapable of happiness. Then I found someone who showed me a reason to live.” Baron-Gracie sharing the meaning behind the song showcases why fans fell in love with Pale Waves in the first place. They lay out a relatable concept — something real verses fabricated — and then they unleash this artistic vision that elevates that original concept to new heights.
“Reasons To Live” fully embodies the early 2000’s pop-punk era of music — the Emo Movement. It debuts at the perfect time as the music that once fueled our adolescences begins to make a comeback in the form of My Chemical Romance touring and releasing new music and Avril Lavigne celebrating 20 years of her debut Let Go. Pale Waves proudly leads the genre forward for the next generation to make sense of their emotions and have their voices heard.
“Reasons To Live” follows the release of their lead single “Lies“ — which hit airwaves just last month with a moody music video. The music video originally premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Hottest Record In The World.
Through their music they found hope and their purpose, and Pale Waves continues to build a community around them with each release. Speaking on the upcoming album Baron-Gracie shares, “It was really the only thing this album could be called. It’s bold and unapologetic, and that’s what the Pale Waves community is about. We don’t need to fit a perfect mold, we don’t need to apologize for being ourselves, and we won’t change for anyone. That acceptance is what connects us.” Unwanted is currently available for pre-order and all bundles can be found linked below. In just a few sort days fans will be lining up and packing in tight to scream back their favorite Pale Waves lyrics back at them. There’s still time to get your tickets to experience the angst fueled music you’ve been missing.
Here’s to the new era of the Emo Movement.
