There’s something exquisite about Hello Echo. Perhaps it’s the soulful brotherhood that you can feel in their musical energy. Or maybe it’s the fact that they’re not trying to invite the wheel, but in doing their thing they are creating timeless indie cult classics. They are a band of buddies that formed from a surfing trip in Baja Mexico. These buddies are now two albums deep and have only just begun. The second song off their most recent release “Country” is a solid Americana/Rock song that is steeped in raw introspective reflection.
My favorite song off the release is easily Watch Through The Lines. It reminds me a bit of P2M veterans Comfy, with a wee touch of The Band.
Hello Echo cites bands like Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, and the Pixies as influences, while maintaining their own brand of melodic rock and roll, often drifting into heartfelt, folkier territory. It’s clear that the influences are preset.
