The most recent Yung Lean track making noise in the media is “Ghosttown” ft. Travi$ Scott. The track is a trap, braggadocio, anthem from the young Sweed. (possible new artist name?). In any event Yung’s latest production sports a cool synth swell intro, not to mention the catchy hook that clearly identifies Yung’s life M.O.
Perhaps it’s the use of the term Ghosttown, or the European accent ,but I can’t help but think that Yung Lean’s flow sounds like the love child of Weezy and the Specials.
All kidding aside, Yung Lean’s latest track is emblematic of the times. It’s a great trap beat, with a dark stoner vibe, and house influences sprinkled through the track. I think when listening to Ghosttown you should take the hook as an all too familiar punk mantra to put yourself above the man.
Ghosttown doesn’t come in a bubble. It’s the first shared stream from his debut LP “Unkown Memory”. The album is being released via the Sad Boys’ imprint, Sky Team. The album is now available digitally via iTunes and Spotify. Pre-orders are available for the physical release in CD and Vinyl format along with a Bundle Pack option that will include gloves and a lighter. The physical release will be available December 2nd. After a short but successful North American tour earlier this year, Yung Lean and the Sad Boys will return to North America for the Unknown Memory tour in December and will be joined by Gravity Boys. To celebrate the release of the album and the tour announcement, Yung Lean is also sharing the official version of his “Ghosttown” collaboration with Houston’s Travi$ Scott on soundcloud.
