Spirit Club is the newest musical venture by Wavves’ Nathan Williams, a three-piece experimental-pop project comprised of Nathan Williams, his brother Joel Williams (also of Sweet Valley) and Andrew Caddick (of Jeans Wilder).
After Williams announced in October via twitter that he’d be pursuing musical aspirations outside of Wavves, Spirit Club quickly came front-and-center with their debut release: a 7” including two songs “Eye Dozer,” and “Sling.”
Last week, Spirit Club released another unexpected treat, a video premiere on Stereogum for “Still Life,” the first single off of their forthcoming album, which is, thus far, untitled and expected to drop some time this Spring.
The video, directed by Jacob Turnbloom, features small snippets from some of our favorite 90’s entertainment, layered together in a visual collage with home videos, plus appearances by a bald mannequin head, and even some good ol’ fashion slime.
Hopefully this will hold off eager fans until Valentine’s Day, which is also Joel Williams’ birthday, when the band is apparently set to release a special “surprise!”
