It’s one of the last Thursdays of 2021 and if you’re searching for new amazing music to listen to, you’re in the right place. This week features a highly-anticipated love song from phem, a dark-pop anthem from HOLDN, and JordyPurp who strives to help others through music.
Rising alt-pop artist phem has officially released her first love song after phemily fans demanded that “silly putty” be released when the hashtag #freesillyputty started trending on Twitter. Currently on tour with Waterparks, phem has been performing the song live every night and states, “The energy it brings to live shows is so fun.” Before its initial release on November 19 via nvr giv up Records, fans were resorting to YouTube to listen since they fell in love. The way phem engages with fans at live shows and performs “silly putty,” there was no way we wouldn’t have gotten the song by the end of 2021. “silly putty” expresses upbeat melodies that will energize you and lyrics that make it easy to resonate with. “Nothing’s ever worth it if it doesn’t scare you” captures your heart and makes you realize you’re not alone. The lyric video features handwritten lyrics on phem’s hand and embraces the creativity of the song. With the chorus being so upbeat and lyrics so memorable, this song is guaranteed to be one of your favorites for a lifetime. phem has been overwhelmed with the success of “silly putty” and is in awe of how many people in the world can relate to her and her music.
Previously released on November 19, HOLDN made a comeback with her new track “stone,” a song separating herself from everyone else. “stone” captures dark vibrations, ambient beats, and a chorus that fully engages you. Expanding her horizons and producing haunting yet embracing melodies, HOLDN invites you to be yourself and be proud of who you are. HOLDN states about the track, “‘stone’ was inspired by the lengths we go to cage our demons in the daylight, but finding the people whose demons play well with your own in the shadows. It’s about learning that your darkness isn’t always lonesome and loving those who understand it.” HOLDN additionally stated that she was inspired by the first season of American Horror Story for “stone” for falling in love with someone’s darkness, but having to choose life or love. Along with releasing a new song, HOLDN had the pleasure of playing Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ with genre-defying artist Lauren Sanderson, where she brought so much energy to the crowd and embraced what is known to be her alter-ego. Striving to break down walls with a new twist on alt-pop, HOLDN is excited to welcome you along on her voyage.
Our final artist for this round of TBT installments is JordyPurp, who expresses his past self and struggles with addiction in his new pop-punk driven track, “Decay” that dropped just before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Previously released via Outlast Records, the song captures hip hop, rock, and pop-punk all into one with a funky beat, rap verses, and guitar-driven riffs you won’t forget. The chorus features lyrics “Okay, okay, okay, This is not how okay behaves,” in which JordyPurp states, “Instead of truly talking about these problems I face on a day to day basis, I often hide behind saying ‘I’m okay’and indulging in the same substances that took my friends and family from me.” This track holds familarness of modern-day pop-punk and will rise straight to the top. As fans of pop-punk are constantly craving more, especially from rising artists, “Decay” is one you’ll want to have on repeat to help you not go insane during the brutal winter.
