TikTok’s rising star, Lizzy McAlpine, has released her newest project, her album, Give Me a Minute. The east-coast based singer/songwriter has been writing music since she was in sixth grade, and is now a junior at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her unique style blends jazz, pop, and R&B together. Her music style is reminiscent of artists like Finneas, but she cites her influences as artists such as John Mayer, MARO, Dodie, and H.E.R..
Give Me A Minute was released August 13th via Spotify with a 13-track spread features some of Lizzy’s most popular tracks such as “Pancakes for Dinner”, “To the Mountains”, and “Apple Pie”. Honest and innocently romantic, “Pancakes for Dinner” pairs soft yet sharp verses with a gentle guitar, accents of violin, and choir-like background vocals. The lyrics paint the craving of simple moments with the person you love and may remind listeners of Sara Bareilles’ style. Lizzy takes us “To the Mountains” is another popular song where she sings about craving isolation and distance. In the fresh air and open space, she finds the time to wind down and be alone with her thoughts. “Apple Pie”, comes in as a welcomed nostalgic acoustic track about all the ‘what-ifs’ and ‘somedays’. Lost in the allure of city life and living with the one she loves, she sings, “Home is wherever you are tonight.” The track is one of her most popular releases, with over a million streams on Spotify to date. The album is Lizzy’s first full release following, Indigo – an 8-track project released back in 2018.

On her TikTok – which boasts an audience of over 218K followers and even more viewers – she posts covers of popular songs both from mainstream music like Rex Orange County’s “Corduroy” and Billie Eilish’s “No Time To Die”, and some of her favorite musical theater soundtracks, as well as recites monologues and does duets with fellow TikTokers. Some of her popular covers include a duet cover of “Treasures” by Tori Kelly with user @Cinyaa, and in-person collaborations with @BenKesslerMusic to cover Chelsea Cutler and Jeremy Zucker’s popular song, “You Were Good To Me,” as well as a mesmerizing performance of “Same Room” by JP Saxe with brotherly duo @TheThistleBros.
Lizzy went viral with her third post back in June, for her original song, “Ruined” – known for its strikingly intimate and widely relatable lyric “You ruined The 1975, now I listen and cry, because you sang ‘We share friends in Soho’ while you told me that none of your friends know.” Fans have been begging for a full version of the track with the widely empathized feeling of a breakup making it hard to listen to bands and songs that you once loved dearly. She followed immediately with her tantalizing track about looking back on a past relationship, and what she imagines her ex might say about her. Many of the TikTok tracks she posts are not yet on Spotify, but fans have laying in wait, hoping for their full versions soon. With so much talent and barely beginning her 20s, Lizzy is brimming with talent and more music to come.
