7evin7ins has released a vibrant video for his latest single, “Let Go” featuring 916frosty. The track, in all of its Machine Gun Kelly-like glory, is a worthwhile trip of gradually getting over a devastating relationship but finding yourself in the process.
The track opens with smooth guitar licks, comparable to blackbear‘s signature sound. Pure angst makes an appearance almost immediately, as 7evin7ins can’t seem to escape his intrusive thoughts. In the chorus, though, he raises his voice slightly, and it’s hard not to see the similarities to Machine Gun Kelly — not that it’s a bad thing by any means. While trap-like drums protrude in the verses, the chorus is enveloped by soft punk guitars. He tells his ex he’s been over them for quite a while now, but the verses prove he’s anything but. 916frosty comes in to further explain that he’s single now because his ex wanted “a rockstar” — but look at them both now. He ends his verse to say he may be in pain now, but he knows he’s going places soon.
7evin7ins is found straightening his flannel and spray-painting his and 916frosty‘s name on the wall before offering the performance of his life in the video. He puts his chest into the performance, jumping around and proving why he deserves his time in the limelight. He picks up a small camcorder and starts singing directly to it before flashes of different pictures of him having fun appear. The red lights suddenly turn into beams of every color on the rainbow, and it feels like you have a barricade spot at his first sold-out concert post-pandemic. The camera zooms into a television set, where 916frosty‘s silhouette is spotted singing directly into a mic like he’s recording the track right there, right then. The video ends with 7evin7ins wiping the camera — and his feelings toward his ex — into a blur.
Of the single, 7evin7ins shares: “This song to me is much more personal than my prior catalogue. he theme of it involves wanting to escape and break free from reality. It was inspired by current events and emotions I’m processing, which makes it really special to me.”
7evin7ins started on SoundCloud, as many hip-hop artists do, and earned his way onto several notable playlists on the streaming service. The emerging artist finds his muse in late hip-hop icons Juice Wrld, Lil Peep and XXXTentacion and is bound to continue to break genre barriers and records with his forthcoming singles.
