All Time Low Monsters Acoustic music video

all time low monsters acoustic blackbearDespite the global pandemic effectively shutting down huge aspects of the music industry, All Time Low has been at the forefront of making all the bad fades away. From leaking half of their latest album, Wake Up Sunshine, before it’s April release and countless intimate live streams across their social media platforms; to releasing a Rosé with #EverythingIsWine and hosting their first quarantine concert live stream – All Time Low continue to be that beaming ray of hope amongst these dark times.

Over the past several weeks, All Time Low had been releasing acoustic renditions of their tracks off Wake Up Sunshine – releasing videos of them clipped together, each performing their respected parts locked away in their homes across the US. However, with the gathering together for the first time to perform their first live stream concert event, you know the boys of ATL were going to have more up their sleeves.

On Tuesday morning, All Time Low tweeted, If this gets 6 retweets we’ll drop an acoustic track on streaming platforms this week.  Seeing as ATL has over 1.6 million follows on Twitter alone, it obviously didn’t take long before they replied, ok. We’ll do it.  But of course not before they made the corny joke of, Dang didn’t quite make it :/  on a comment retweet of the original tweet [at the time] showing over 2,800 retweets. By Wednesday morning they revealed that an acoustic version of their hit Monsters  [originally featuring blackbear] will drop at midnight – guess all the best creatures really do come out well after dark.

The video opens with frontman Alex Gaskarth walking into a room draped in a warm orange glow, joining the rest of All Time Low who have been waiting for him. The electric track becomes reborn as an eerie nightmarish acoustic – featuring the addition of a keyboardist. Drummer, Rian Dawson, show off his instrumental skills as he mans not only his trusted drum kit but a shaker and tambourine as well. As fans hold their breath to see if blackbear would come out as a special guest to perform his verse on the track, we were all pleasantly surprised when Alex took on the ‘1 breath verse’. While guitarist, Jack Barakat held a look of intense focus as he grooved to the track, bassist, Zack Merrick can be seen smiling and jamming, lifting off his chair with excitement. Overall the acoustic rendition elevates an already incredible track to new heights.

Unsurprisingly, Monsters  became All Time Low’s [and blackbear’s] first top 10 alternative radio hit. Currently, All Time Low are also nominated for a VMA in the Best Alternative category for Wake Up Sunshine’s leading single, Some Kind Of DisasterAlex tweeted about the nomination saying, Woah, we’re up for Best Alternative and THAT is cool! Thanks for the nom. Hopefully we smoke these other nobodies (they are all wildly better than us).  While Alex’s humble jokes are always appreciated, All Time Low have worked their butts off to get where they are today – from hometown heroes [yet national nobodies] to endless festival headlines and sold-out shows – All Time Low are one in a million that will go down in history as one of the greatest musical acts of our generation.
