Harry Hains’ alter-ego project ANTIBOY continues to grace us with new mental health awareness track. His family continues Harry’s legacy in the latest posthumous release “Insanity.” His previously released single “One Love” expressed Harry’s dream for all humans to be treated equally. Harry often struggled with gender normalities and always aimed for breaking down the barriers of social construct. With his first new single in 2022, ANTIBOY encourages you to open your mind and heart.
Presenting a mysterious undertone, “Insanity” features captivating lyrics such as “Stuck in a cycle in my head/our voices are our only friends.” Exploring his own inner and outer existence, ANTIBOY expresses what it’s like to struggle with mental health issues through electronic beats, robust melodies and alluring vocals. The goth-pop track features eerie sonnets as it reveals the life that Harry used to live. With feelings of addressing the insecurities within you, “INSANITY” is easily relatable and fans will rave over the new track.
The music video for “Insanity” captures a human being used for a science experiment of someone who has mental health and addiction issues. The attempt to erase the human’s mind of all negative thoughts and aspects becomes successful as the human escapes to dancing hysterically while not being controlled by others. Metaphorically, the video explains that when the human mind is emptied, the human is free of judgments and loses control of all thoughts and feelings. Dancing the frenzied dance is performed beautifully by British contemporary dance artist Leah Marojević.
In ANTIBOY’s universe there are no social constructs or labels, and everyone is living in a non-binary world. Harry constantly struggled with gender normalities, mental health and drug addiction which he’s ultimately succumbed to. With listeners who understand his struggles and vision for the world, ANTIBOY’s music continues to provide a safe place for those who can relate. Advocating for mental health rights, LGBTQ+ rights and more, Harry Hains’ perception still lives on through ANTIBOY and we’re so glad to be a part of it!
