Miami-based Rudy Touzet — a pop artist whose name will inevitably be found within all depths of the radio soon — has released his latest single, “Play Me Again,” with a lyric video. It’s easy to imagine the track reverberating off the walls of a night club while people forget about all the worries burdening them and bask in the beauty of the moment.
Blistering synths open the track, with Touzet’s smooth vocals setting up a sensual scene of not wanting to let go of something so good, even though it’s blatantly toxic. Trap drums line the surface in the chorus as Touzet’s voice is manipulated to the point it almost sounds like he’s blending in with the synths. The more he thinks about her, the more Touzet wants her and he decides that even if she goes away after one more round — literally like turning on a song just to hear it one time — the few moments of bliss will be worth it.
The lyric video opens with the song title and the background, between flashes of pink and white, perfectly bouncing to the beat. As the lyrics cascade through, brief images appear that coincide, including a drawing of Touzet thinking about his significant other and wiping sweat off his face. In the chorus, an array of speakers with the words “play me again” shake intensely, to both get his point across perfectly and persuade his boo to the point she lets him back in. The images become more real and Touzet’s lyrics only get sexier as they go. It’s hard to believe that his love wouldn’t fall on her knees right there for him — because who wouldn’t want a gorgeous song like this written for them?
Of his intent with music, Touzet shares: “Music is the only thing that gets me out of reality when I need it the most. I want people to feel my voice and either dance it out, cry it out, or sing it out.”
“Play Me Again” sounds like it came right out of one of Jesse McCartney‘s latest albums, and that’s nothing but a compliment. The single follows three others that have combined to accumulate over 1 million streams. Touzet may be a self-proclaimed “shy guy,” but the boldness of “Play Me Again” proves otherwise. The title of a song has never been more perfect, either — because you’ll want to play this song over and over again until it’s all you know.
