YaSi shares another slice of her upcoming EP. Today, she shares “World Is Burning,” a fierce and honest look at how she feels about the world. YaSi once again uses her music as an outlet for touchy subjects. She has a knack for adding flair to convey sensitive messages in a tasteful manner. Her EP, Coexist with Chaos is out April 2nd via Royal Rhythm Records.
“World is Burning” opens with an infectious beat that masks the deeper meaning of the track. “You want money, dollar bills, even though it only kills and it never really heals how you feel inside.” YaSi sings with clear intention. She shares, “While I wrote this song in Jan of 2020. The feelings of anger, confusion, disillusion, and the clear hypocrisy of how the world treats its citizens were the reason I wrote this song. We’re all watching people around us get ‘high’ on their vices, but how can we blame people when our backs are against an unpredictable wall?” The danceable beat will have you jamming along before you realize it’s darker, and still relatable, emotions YaSi writes.
The upcoming EP Coexist With Chaos is the purest representation of YaSi to date. She creates songs that toe the line between Eastern and Western influences, between ebullience and sultriness, between optimism and realism. It’s a reflective release, including some weightier topics – very much a product of the environment surrounding the EP’s creation. YaSi’s writing finds inspiration from the world outside her window, reflective of the Black Lives Matter protests, turmoil in her parents’ homeland, and the raging pandemic. And she utilizes her ability to deliver the messages tastefully with high spirited beats and artful lyricism.
YaSi is not one thing, to be clear. She proudly states, “I’m 100% Iranian and 100% American.” Making sure she represents both sides in all she does, YaSi makes an effort to use her voice to raise awareness about issues important to her. She hopes to be a spark, a voice that makes ears perk up, horizons expand, and world views shift. Todays release is clear proof of that, she uses her platform to exercise her words as a weapon for good. “Guilty” is just the first taste of the upcoming record, and now “World is Burning” gives us another look at the release. The EP is full of empowering pop anthems to politically relevant power ballads. Coexist With Chaos is set to release April 2nd, 2021 with Royal Rhythm Recordings.
